A human made machine is subject to breakdown if handled inappropriately lacking maintenance. Our human body acts like a machine in functioning. Anything overloaded can cause to system breakdown. Is it Depression or Anxiety?

Anxiety is very common to all people. It is a normal emotion when being stressed due to daily life events. But when it becomes more frequent it causes to anxiety disorder. Some of the life incidents, childhood abuse, emotional abuse, witnessing violence in family or neighborhoods, deaths, can be a cause for excessive anxiety and fears that may disrupt in performing daily life activities.

Before concluding oneself as depressed it’s important to thoroughly observe the emotional and physical changes. It’s completely natural and usual way of reacting to stressful situations that cause anxiety. After all life is full of troubled situations putting us in an anxious state. Is it possible to live a life without anxiety? No. not really possible but there is a hope.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Is it Okay to Feel “Not okay”?

Facing ups and downs are part of life. Especially in our Indian culture, youngsters are suppressed within families having less freedom to express or talk of their feelings. Considering depression as a serious mental illness, nobody wants to talk about it rather understanding it as a stage anyone can go through based on external factors.

There can be events in life that puts us in the complex chaos, distress, anxiety, detachment from family, loss of loved ones, relationship failures, and fear about future which triggers to cause situational depression. Such cases would need a period of few months to one year or based on the impact the event leaves on the person. When an alternative to experience joy is met the depression fades away helping them to come back into usual life routines. So Give it time to heal, engaging more into physical activities, investing time into your talents, Prayer and meditation, socializing more with family and friends which can aid the healing process and remember healing process is slow. And it is completely okay to feel not okay.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.Isaiah 41:10

Is it okay Not to be Perfect?

The argumentative statement is, in the olden day teens or youngsters rarely underwent depression and why is it prominent these days?  We need to realize and accept the life style, physical activities, priorities and family involvement adaptation of these days. Youngsters and teens of these days are more engaged in electronic gadgets, social media and less of physical activities. Along with increased academic stress, job pressures, splitted family, loss of a parent or loved family member, sense of disconnection, sense of loneliness, being judged, sensitiveness to tackle over new challenges and the list goes on with many reasons for understanding depression among youngsters.

The pressure to be seen perfect in today’s age is traumatizing. as result of society tags a youngster good’ or bad’ in terms of academic performance, career success, financial stability, family and behavioral patterns is what breaks down mental health. No single person are without imperfections and nobody is fully perfect. During the phase of exploring, learning, growing in life you can be imperfect in dealing with all the struggles. Nevertheless it’s important to develop oneself to be a good human before God and people which doesn’t happen overnight.
